Innercises
If you need help to ensure you’re working in the right direction, here you can find my recommendations to build a Buddy System for accountability.
1) Turn your self-limiting beliefs into empowering ones:
Focus on the thoughts that come to mind when you feel disempowered (check your energy level), and ask yourself:
- What’s my belief?
- Where does it come from?
- Is there any rational reason for such a belief?
- Would I come to the same conclusion about another person in a similar situation?
- Why should I continue to act and feel as if this were true if there’s no good reason to believe it?
2) Look at your past “mountains”:
- How did you feel before that exam/meeting/date/interview?
- How did you feel when you reached the top?
- How can you celebrate, now, those achievements?
What are you learning from all this?
3) Write a page as if you were a marketeer, selling yourself in 3rd person, emphasising how brilliantly you’ve overcome the obstacles you encountered in your life and all your major points. Sell up, don’t play safe!

4) Clarify within yourself at what the level of self-image you wish to be. It has to be a gradual growth, don’t try to push too much right now, rather make a plan of what your growth will look like in the next few weeks, where you want to be, what actions/thoughts/beliefs will take you there and when (approximately). Turn what you want into a concrete project, so your brain will activate the right filters and will speed up the process.
5) Once you have established what’s your next self-image level, ask yourself: what would I do, if I were (for example) at 6 instead of 5? how would I behave? what would I rather believe? what actions would I take? What resources would I check? what people would I contact and what would I tell them? what house/job/network/salary would I rather go for? It is crucial that you begin now to think and act as all this was occurring already. The “Act as if” innercise is widely used by high performers (in business and sport) to push their brain boundaries further and activate the filters they need to achieve their goals. Think and act as if you were already at the level of self-image you want to reach next.
